One of the steps to becoming a member of the Copyright Agency is verifying your identity. This is an essential step in creating an account and, for your security, we can’t finalise a membership until this is done.
You will be directed to do this when applying for membership through the Member Portal.
What information is required?
When setting up an account you’ll be directed to our ‘Verify your identity’ page. This has a list of options you can use for verification. These include:
- Australian driver’s licence
- Australian passport
- Medicare card
- Centrelink card
- New Zealand passport
- New Zealand driver’s licence
You only need to provide one of these and you don’t need to provide a copy of the document. You can provide the reference number (passport number, licence number etc) through the Member Portal.
How does the verification work?
The Copyright Agency uses an online document verification service to perform an identity check immediately.
Does the Copyright Agency store your identity information?
We don’t store any information used in the identify verification. The only detail recorded is that you have successfully completed the verification.
For more information on how we handle information, read the Copyright Agency Privacy Policy.
